Lincoln’s 2nd birthday photoshoot!!

Lincoln turns 2! Two years down and it flew by so fast. I might just say that every year. Lincoln and I have come a long way from when he was born. He was just this tiny baby and I remember not knowing how much formula to pour or which cry meant what?? Nowadays I think we have a good swing of things.

I’m writing this post to document this day and to share Lincoln’s very first photoshoot photos!! And also to say there was no birthday party. Which I feel is strange to not do, but unfortunately I do feel pressure to put on this big show. That’s how it was last year. Even though Lincoln’s birthday will forever be the most special day for us, I want to spend time enjoying all the days leading up to it and the day itself and that’s something I missed out on last year. I was so consumed with the perfect party.

I still did some decorations/balloons around the house though! Got a small cake and Lincoln received many gifts still!

The monthly picture board from last year! I got another one this year but it’s not hanging yet. Both are from Etsy!
This was a chocolate cake with buttercream frosting!

I think this is why I emphasize so much on quality time even with Lincoln being this young. He understands so much and I want him to know that I value our time spent together too. Once he’s older, there is a good possibility he will be eager for a party with friends and family. Of course I will make that happen for him, but for now I am taking advantage of the fact that he’s a toddler and he doesn’t fully quite understand what a birthday party is. And if you’re anything like me and planning social events or semi big gatherings stress you out, it’s okay. You’re not a bad parent and at the end of the day it’s all about keeping yourself and your child happy.

Now let’s get into Lincoln’s first photoshoot!! I had a photographer in my area take these. She did so good!! Some of you might know that I’m very into photography as well. I have a couple of photoshoot sessions on my blog. I would’ve done these type of photos myself but I chose not to because it’s Lincoln’s first time doing something like this and I wanted to minimize the stress on me since this was partly for Lincoln’s birthday as well and I know me well, I would’ve been stressed. Maybe next year I’ll give it a go once I have more practice.

These photos were taken exactly one week before Lincoln’s birthday. He was not having it when we arrived. It took so much to get him to loosen up which is expected. We played music, Mickey Mouse videos. I brought some bubbles. I sat on the floor with him as close as I could. We laughed. We tried our best to make him feel excited. We did it all. The end result came out perfect so it was well worth it. Even the first photos here are very cute. Lincoln was a little tense at first and I might be biased but he still comes out so cute.

Look at his arms!! Haha

These photos were taken in a studio so the set up and the backdrop was done based off of what I wanted. Which was a neutral forest vibe. Totally different from the Mickey Mouse decor. Haha. I just couldn’t do a Mickey Mouse theme for the photos. I really wanted a sophisticated look for the shoot. Hence Lincoln’s dressy outfits as well. I love how the photos came out and the Mickey Mouse decor is still up and I love that as well. I don’t think I could take that down anytime soon. This is a good example of combining both of our favorite things. Lincoln loves Mickey Mouse and I love clean neutral looking photos.

About halfway into the shoot is when Lincoln felt more comfortable and his personality came through. We see many facial expressions.

Shy smirk
The school picture smile (my favorite)
Trying not to laugh/smile

I don’t want to overload you guys with all the photos so that’s all I’ll share! Haha. I’m very happy with how these turned out. I can’t wait to do it again next birthday! Maybe I’ll even try to take some of my own soon too! You’ll just have to wait and see.

I will see you in my next post!
