So today calls for rain. Am I the only one who is instantly in a bad mood when it’s raining?? I think seasonal depression is about to hit me hard.
One of my friends, Vy, which I’m pretty sure I’ve introduced her to you guys but she’s one of my good friends and we work together. That’s how we met. It was around 10 am and I get a text saying if I wanted to hang. My initial thought was actually no. I’m never in the mood to go out when it’s raining unless I really have to. You know, to be an adult. But of course I still said yes. Part me of me hates spending too much time at home on my days off now. Do we need a recap of quarantine? I don’t think so.
So Vy picked me up. Before we set off on our adventure, Vy made sure I brought my camera. Now I find it funny how some people think I bring my camera everywhere. I mean I probably should but I really try not to be annoying like not everything needs to be documented. But I grab it with me anyway because it came in handy with our impromptu photoshoot.
So we got to the outlets and chilled in the parking lot. Some might find that weird but I do that on the regular before and after work. No better place to avoid adulting than in your car. The real question is why are we at work on our day off. This is the part where we get our food in and figure out the game plan for the day but we could’ve thought of a plan before we left my house. Not exactly easy when both of us are indecisive. It’s a good thing we have the whole day.
So Vy has a bumble. Pretty sure you’ve heard of it. I had one a couple months ago too. That’s what life has come to. Online dating. Anyway she was about to tell me some of the interesting conversations she’s encountered but I just had to ask. “Didn’t you delete that??” And she was like, “I made a new one. I was bored.” I loved that response. That was literally me during quarantine. I mean if you’re bored. Just be a troll on a dating app.
So if you’re wondering why we were at the outlets. That would be Brandon. He’s our UPS guy and all of us love him. He’s so sweet. We knew he would be working so we stopped to see him. And then attempted to find someplace super cool for our impromptu photoshoot. We had to ask Brandon because that’s another excuse to talk to him.
Now I could’ve used the outlets but I’ve used that location a number of times. And besides, Vy and I are always down to check out some new locations. So Brandon suggested two parks/trails. They were within 10 minutes from us which was perfect considering the rain. So the first one we went to had a lake with a dock, a basketball and tennis court, a cute playground and a few trails. My brother would’ve loved it here.
We walked towards the lake and if you know me you know I love a water view. I didn’t get any photos of that view. I know. I should be fired from my pretend career. So you’re just going to have to imagine one gloomy day standing on a dock with the most still water. I mean that probably doesn’t help but I really try not to capture every single moment for the sake of enjoying my time with friends and family. But if I didn’t notice my camera around my shoulder to be like oh I should get this on camera, then you know I was really living for that view.

So we walked back towards the entrance (where the above photos were taken) that leads to one of the trails. There’s a spot where all you see is just trees and every inch of the ground is covered in leaves. I still can’t get over how pretty fall is. So we’re walking and we hear a bunch of noises in every direction and I’m thinking this is how we die. The other part of me is thinking well this is the perfect opportunity for some handsome stranger to walk by like that is how Vy would meet the love of her life. You know like so unexpectedly and I’ve got the camera so I could get it on film and play it back on their wedding. Wouldn’t that be such a good story to tell the kids?? I mean that didn’t happen but I think I’ve been watching too many hallmark movies.

So this infamous rock really made the shot. No but seriously I told Vy to be as natural as possible and this seemed like a good spot to stop. She’s the most perfect model so that makes my life easier. I could never, hence why I’m behind the camera. I will say that is so difficult shooting in the rain. I was struggling and it wasn’t even raining hard but every stop we made I covered up my camera with my jacket. Gotta protect my baby. I wish I got some behind the scenes photos of that. They say you should wrap your camera in plastic so that you don’t have to worry about that. So next time I’ll just have to try that.
So I’m sure we’ve all seen those photos where people throw leaves in the air. We had to have a few of our own. The only problem was that since it was raining, the leaves were all wet and Vy and I were iffy about that. We are a little high maintenance when it comes to things like that. Gotta do it for the instagram though.

Onto our next location. This has to be my favorite simply because this one had a river even though I tripped right into it. Ok that’s a little dramatic. It was more like from my calf down but I could feel myself slipping with every step. They’ve got like cute little rocks that look like a path which is ideal to get closer to the river but if you’re not wearing proper shoes like me then you’re screwed. And I had so much gear on me, everything seemed to weigh me down. I’m grateful my camera didn’t suffer.

So there was this bench in the middle of the trail. Perfect photo opportunity right? So Vy lays on it and she was saying how could she make this look sexual like with her laying on it and her hair was super damp. First of all I died laughing but then I thought she could just put one leg up and tilt her head back. Maybe not the most perfect idea but it works especially when she’s wearing a sweatshirt and leggings. That’s not the funny part though. That bench is just placed on the ground so if you move to get up, it’ll sway backwards. It almost took out Vy. Then again she did try swaying back and forth to see how far it would go and it has potential to just flip completely over. Not about to get my heart pumping any faster.

We walked by this bridge with this metal fence. Not attractive looking in comparison to the other bridge ahead but this photo is definitely my favorite. If you want to be a little daring, you could climb over this fence and stand on this rock overlooking the river but it didn’t look stable enough so we chickened out. Lost opportunity at another great story.

A few steps further and there’s another bridge. We just had to use it to our advantage as another prop. And then another few steps further it’s private property which I’m super jealous to whoever lives there.

That sums up our mini adventure. Took us the whole day but I love a good photoshoot day. Driving back home, we were both saying how good we were going to sleep that night. And I can confirm it was the best sleep. But the pretty neighborhood that we drove by out of there was super pretty like that’s the goal someday. Cute little house with a wrap around porch. Pretty views. Big trees. Perfectly peaceful. I’ll keep you updated if that ever happens.

Until the next adventure. Maybe not when it’s raining.
